PETER ARNETT

A man of integrity and .. Courage under fire, Peter Arnett.......

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Britain's Daily Mirror hired veteran
war correspondent Peter Arnett Tuesday, less than 24 hours after
he was fired by NBC and National Geographic for saying on
Iraqi TV the U.S. war plan has "failed."

The tabloid's banner headline Tuesday said: "Fired by America for
telling the truth ... hired by Daily Mirror to carry on telling it."

Piers Morgan, an editor for the Daily Mirror, told CNN,
"Peter is one of the most respected journalists in the world, and we
are delighted he is joining us to expose the truth about a war increasingly
dominated by propaganda."

Arnett, 68, was quoted in the tabloid as saying, "I report the truth of
what is happening here in Baghdad and will not apologize for it. I have
always admired your newspaper and am proud to be working for it."
Arnett -- who won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on the Vietnam War,
and covered the 1991 Persian Gulf War for CNN -- was one of the last
reporters in Baghdad reporting for a U.S. network when he was
interviewed by Iraqi TV over the weekend.

In that interview, he said, "The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi
resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. Clearly, the
American war planners misjudged the determination of the Iraqi forces."

Arnett had been reporting from Baghdad for NBC News and MSNBC
while on assignment for National Geographic Explorer. NBC and
National Geographic abruptly fired him Monday.

"It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview to state-controlled
Iraqi TV, especially at a time of war, and it was wrong for him to discuss his
personal observations and opinions in that interview," NBC News President
Neal Shapiro said in a statement. National Geographic
issued a statement that read:

"The Society did not authorize or have any prior knowledge of
Arnett's television interview with Iraqi television, and had we been
consulted, would not have allowed it."

In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer on "The Today Show,"
Arnett apologized for comments he made.

"I want to apologize to the American people for clearly making a
misjudgment over the weekend by giving an interview to
Iraqi Television," Arnett said.

A man of "Integrity and Courage" under fire,
after a great many years of honest reporting!

Peter;  The Truth Needs No Apology!

When you have the courage to tell the truth there are always those interests who are eagerly trying to cover up and or put a spin on that truth! In their eagerness to do this they fumble and fall and firing Peter Arnett was the biggest fumble of all! It blatantly proves this war was not only a deceitful action orchestrated by certain American leaders but alas perpetrated by certain British leadership and this is their latest dastardly deed!

Both factions are now fumbling as their "Latest Design to Deceive" is to put out even more spin in order to cleverly, they think, divert negative energy towards Mr. Arnett in order to circumvent the evidence of truth that clearly and decisively accuses them one and all!

We even have a Republican leader who wants to try Peter for treason. To you I say, Get a life! "Stop wasting tax payers dollars with your less then patriotic behavior. Enough damage was accomplished during the clever pernicious undermining perpetrated by certain leaders during the Clinton Presidency"

Do you think Mr. Arnett told the world something it had not figured out for itself and in many instances right from he very beginning of this farce. We Americans have been slapped upside the face with one farce after another in our country over the last 20 years; no actually, going back to the assassination of Kennedy, to the present day!

Not all Americans are satisfied with "complacency"! Complacency
is a dangerous place to find ones self, especially in today's environment!

"And as for the reporters who have eagerly jumped on the bandwagon to condemn Peter Arnett's remarks as unprofessional, etc.; To you I say, "Some have forgotten how to be an unbiased reporters serving only corporate America, who writes the pay check. Big business conditions today's reporters and tells them what they may or may not REPORT!

Peter may have been a little candid, but "Peter" also did a service to many people out here needing to know that they're not losing their minds! What they see, hear, as they try to decipher the truth from the deceitful spin, is enough to blow ones mind!

"Three Cheers for Peter Arnett and I will be ordering the "Mirror" for it's strong stand for truth in reporting and it's good taste in hiring Peter Arnett! B.C.W. 2-20-04
